Right now, PS Plus subscribers are getting to check out all the new perks of the Extra and Premium tiers, if they’ve upgraded from the now newly-dubbed Essential tier. There are a lot of great games at the PS Plus Extra and Premium Tiers, though some are notably unhappy with the PS Plus free games for June 2022.
The free, Essential tier games include God of War, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, making the reason why pretty clear. However, the PS Plus free games for July 2022 will be a little different. Not only will subscribers get two free games as part of Essential (or how it operates right now), but they’ll get a few more games added to Extra and Premium as well.
GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY
The PS Plus free games for July 2022 are expected to be announced on June 29, while the reveal for the Extra and Premium game releases will happen closer to the middle of July. Fans already know that Stray is one of the PS Plus Extra games for July, joining the service on day one of release, but here are a few games that would do great on the service.
PS Plus Free Game for July 2022 – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019)
Even though Activision-Blizzard is being acquired by Xbox, the deal is not done quite yet, and getting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) on PS Plus would be a strong move. It’s considered one of the better CoD games in recent years, and with its sequel releasing later this year, it would be a good hype-building game to release.
Plenty of fans have likely already played Modern Warfare, but those who are curious about returning to the franchise, those who haven’t, or those who have moved on from the game would benefit from its inclusion. Not to mention, FPS is one of the most popular genres out there, so including a Call of Duty game on PS Plus at any time is a safe bet.
PS Plus Free Game for July 2022 – The Pathless
Pairing something as serious as Call of Duty is difficult, but something serious yet unique would be the way to go. The Pathless, ultimately, would be a good pick for PS Plus because it’s different yet captures that all-important fun factor well. It’s a 2020 Annapurna Interactive title, as well as a PlayStation console adventure. The Pathless is an open-world third-person action-adventure game, where players try to lift a curse on the island they inhabit. It’s full of puzzles, unique abilities, and a serious relationship/gameplay mechanic with the Eagle.
The Pathless is also a good game that too many may have slept on. Bringing more attention to it with PS Plus is a win-win for everyone involved.
It’s uncertain what titles will join Stray on PS Plus Extra/Premium in July, nor is it certain how many games will be added per platform or per tier. Right now, it’s like shooting in the dark. However, should any of the following games make it onto PS Plus, they would be great games for the service. Since the higher tiers are premium and include tons of big AAA games, it’s best to shoot for the stars if one has to shoot in the dark, so here are a few hopes:
- PS1- Final Fantasy Tactics, Chrono Cross
- PS2- Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, NBA Street Vol. 2
- PSP- Secret Agent Clank, God of War: Ghost of Sparta
- PS3- Metal Gear Solid 4, Journey
- PS4- The Witcher 3
- PS5- It Takes Two
