The new PS Plus tiers have already started to roll out in other territories these past few weeks, but, starting today, June 13, PlayStation fans in the United States have access to the slew of features for new subscribers. Those who already were subscribed to the normal PS Plus service will simply transfer over to the newly titled Essential tier, which has the same benefits as the regular PS Plus, before the rollout of the new tiers.
This guide will quickly show PlayStation users how to upgrade from Essential to the Extra or Premium tiers. For a refresher on what’s included in each tier, readers can look at the handy chart down below for a comparison of the three:

If the PS4/PS5 console is nearby, the easiest way to upgrade is to simply turn on the console and tab over to the PlayStation Plus section in the menu. A splash screen will now say, “Introducing the All New PlayStation Plus.” And right next to the Monthly Games button will be the Upgrade option. Click on that to be taken to the different plans that players can upgrade to. It’ll show the price to upgrade today and how long the plan will last.
Go ahead and confirm the purchase, and everything will be set up.
Upgrading in the PS Store
Another way to change the PS Plus membership tier, head into the PlayStation Store and click on the three horizontal dots next to the shopping cart. From there, click on Subscriptions.
PlayStation owners can change their plan on this menu screen and decide whether they want to pay the subscription fee monthly or yearly. It’s worth noting that if folks go with the yearly cost instead of paying monthly, they can save about $100 or so, at least for the Premium tier.

And the last way for PS enthusiasts to upgrade to the new tiers is to go to the PlayStation Plus section of the official PlayStation website. Just make to log in before trying to upgrade anything.
